Liberty

I mentioned in my last post that I was visiting London on Saturday and I was taking a trip to Liberty to get some fabric.  We got to Liberty just as the doors were opening in the morning and it was so lovely and quiet, I basically had the haberdashery department to myself! There are so many beautiful fabrics, it was so hard to pick but I eventually narrowed it down to the strawberry thief print and a small scale floral print. I couldn't resist those Liberty fabric covered buttons either!

I'm planning to use the floral print to decorate the cuffs on a plain white shirt and I will use the strawberry thief print for whatever takes my fancy!

I also got myself a little something from Miss Patina which featured in Fashion Friday two weeks ago - http://handmadebyhannahblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/fashion-friday-miss-patina.html

Fashion Friday: Olympia Le-Tan

What could be a more suitable item for bag and book lovers than Olympia Le-Tan's beautiful book cover clutches? What I love about these bags is that they look so much like book covers yet when you look closer you begin to see the real detail and careful work that has been put into making them. The clutches are beautifully created using felt and embroidery stitches to create the book covers. That's not all, to top everything off each bag has a Liberty print lining, what could be better than that?

Talking of Liberty, guess where I'm heading tomorrow? Yes you got it, London and I'm hoping to pick up some Liberty print fabric myself!

Merry Christmas!

I'd just like to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas, I hope you all have a lovely break and give and receive lovely gifts. I hope you have all finished off your Christmas shopping and most importantly have made lots of presents too because handmade is always best.

I mentioned that I have been very busy finishing off my Christmas presents, well I finally finished them on Sunday, with a day to spare! Next year I will be more organised...I think! So after Christmas I'll photograph them so you can see what I've been up to most of last week!

Crochet granny square blanket

I've been making some more progress on my crochet granny square blanket. I've sewn a few more squares together but now I've run out of the cream wool again!

Fashion Friday: Miss Patina

Sorry I haven't been writing much this week but I have been very busy with finishing off my Christmas presents, they are almost done now!

I was in Topshop the other day and I saw a stand with clothes on that I really liked, when I looked at the label I found out they were from Miss Patina. So I had a look on the website and everything was just so gorgeous. I can't get enough of vintage style garments and I absolutely love the beautiful finishing touches on the items such as the blouse with the black edging. I think everything is so elegant and feminine which is completely my style, after Christmas I'm hitting the Miss Patina website!

Brighten up your bookshelves!

Need something to cheer up your bookshelves? This simple idea of colour coordinating you books in the order of the rainbow will really bring a splash of colour to your bookshelves. I think this works best with craft books because they normally have brightly coloured spines. How about having a set of bookshelves with just black and white spines to create a modern look? Who needs sensible alphabetic organisation?

Fashion Friday: Erdem S/S 2013

So it seems like the blog is back in business, for the moment anyway...I'm just hoping it won't go wrong again!

Now I can finally write about the Erdem Spring/ Summer 2013 collection which, by the way, I am in love with. Its all that you want from a S/S collection, light, fresh colours and dreamy, lightweight fabrics to bring you out of the winter gloom. The beautiful patterned fabrics are busy without being in-your-face and the classic silhouettes really set off the delicate embellishments. But where would this collection be without Erdem's trademark use of lace that seems to run expertly through all the collections.

Updates...oh and some crocheted doilies

Last time I wrote about some blogging problems, well today I thought I'd just let you know what I've been up to all this time. I have been pretty busy on my crocheted blanket and the stack of granny squares was getting too tall to handle so I have started sewing more squares together now.

Oh and is anyone else excited for Christmas? I am! Although I still haven't finished making my presents, actually I haven't even started. Well it's getting a bit late you might say but I've never been one for starting Christmas crafting in August. I've really got to get on with it though, intensive present making to come...

Um okay this is weird but I was just writing this post and I thought I'll just see if I can upload any images and it worked! What is going on? But I'm not complaining... just shh don't tell Blogger!

So you want to see my crocheted doilies I made from a free gift in Mollie Makes?
